Edith B. Hagen
Edith B. Hagen, 89, a former Lewiston homemaker, died Thursday morning of causes related to age at her daughter's home in Lakeside, Ariz.
She was born on April 7, 1906, in Wolf County, Ky., to Luther and Olive May Senter Profitt.
The family moved to the Northwest when she was 2, living in several places but primarily in the Orofino area.
She attended Indian Grade School at Ahsahka and, during her younger years, was fluent in Nez Perce.
She married Glen Grimm in 1921 at Gilbert Hill near Orofino. They divorced in 1930.
She managed a hotel and worked as a waitress, and also owned a restaurant and bar at Ahsahka.
During World War II she worked at the Hanford Nuclear Reservation.
She married Ole Hagen on Feb. 9, 1945, in Asotin and they lived in Spokane for a while before settling in the Bovill and Headquarters area.
They moved to Lakeside in 1973, returning to Lewiston in 1978. Her husband died in 1985 and she went back to Lakeside in 1992.
She loved gardening, traveling and camping.
Survivors include two daughters, Jewell Lutich of Lakeside and Carol Wise of Lewiston; four grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. A son and a sister died earlier.
Viewing is at Vassar-Rawls Funeral Home Wednesday from noon to 7 p.m. and Thursday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Normal Hill Cemetery with Rev. Jim Higgins of Grace Lutheran Church officiating.
Vassar-Rawls is in charge of arrangements.
